Short version: this site republishes public city records and tries hard to be accurate, but it is one person’s reading of a government dataset. Do not bet anything important on it without checking the receipts.

What this site is

chiwardboard republishes public records from the City of Chicago and computes summary figures from them.
We make no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or currency. The records may contain errors, omissions, and duplicates before we ever see them, and our own processing may contain mistakes.
Every ward’s figure links to the underlying rows. If a number looks wrong, check the rows - that is what they are there for.

The numbers are a snapshot

Figures are computed at build time and published as a dated snapshot. They are not live. The snapshot date is shown on the board.
The city continues to update its records after our snapshot is taken, including closing requests that were open and revising past entries. Our numbers will drift from the city’s until the snapshot is rebuilt.

What a closure timestamp does and does not mean

A closure timestamp records when a city department marked a service request closed in its system. That is an operational record, not a measurement of work quality, and not always the moment work happened.
These figures describe departmental operations across a ward. Response times depend on crew scheduling, contractor availability, weather, seasonal volume, the physical characteristics of a ward, and how a department records its work.
This site does not attribute performance to any individual officeholder, office, or employee. Where an alderperson’s name appears, it is directory information identifying who represents that ward, not a claim about their job performance or a statement that they are responsible for these numbers.

Nothing here is legal, financial, real-estate, or civic advice.
Do not rely on it for any decision with consequences - where to live, what to buy, how to vote, or what to file. Use it to ask better questions, then go to the source.

Affiliation and availability

chiwardboard is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for the City of Chicago. Underlying records are public data provided by the city under its data terms.
The site is provided as-is, with no uptime commitment. It may change, break, move, or disappear without notice. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to refund, because there is nothing to pay.
